A desk, a chair and a computer you sit down at and actually use. Pull up a chair, click the screen, and a desktop opens: notes you save to floppy discs, art for the screen, a store that takes your experience levels, and a terminal that sends you somewhere else entirely. It’s on the workbench, so this is what’s built so far, not a finished list.
The desktopSit down, click the screen, and your apps are there.
The PC only opens when you’re sat at it; stood up, it just tells you to pull up a chair.
- Storage: your floppy discs
- Notes: write notes to a disc and keep them
- Media: put art on the screen, and the PC’s own screen changes
- Store: buy discs with experience levels, the way you pay for an enchantment
- Terminal: choose where the pod sends you
Break the PC and it hands its discs back, notes and all.
Apps for your other packsGot the Farm Sim Pack or Night Lite? Their apps turn up on their own.
Other LLS packs appear as apps when they’re installed, and only then: Farm shows your crops and livestock from the Farm Sim Pack, and Night Lite switches your zone borders on and off. The PC needs no other pack, and no other pack needs the PC.
The 3D printerLoad a schematic by hand, then print it from the desk.
Put a schematic disc into the printer, sit back down at the PC, and a 3D Printer app appears (the printer has to be in the same room, within 8 blocks). Press print and the machine works with light and sound, dings when it’s done, and leaves the print behind a door you open yourself.
The podUpload a destination, lie back, and wake up somewhere else.
Put a destination disc in the PC, upload it from the Terminal, then lie back in the pod. Your eyes close, and you wake up in a data center: black server aisles, a raised white floor with tiles missing over a pit of wires, and cold LEDs for light.
You go in empty-handed. Your kit waits in a Link Cache beside the pod and comes back with you, and Jack Out gets you home from anywhere. Only the first room is built so far.
The NodeThe thing living in the data center. It can't die.
Pale, long-limbed, red-eyed and always on all fours, it climbs the walls, crawls across the ceiling and drops down on you. Hit it and it vanishes and turns up somewhere else, leaving you alone for a few seconds. That’s your opening, not a kill.
The full write-up goes up here when there’s a build to share.
